Murray, Cantwell defend Planned Parenthood

Post-Intelligencer – As a federal government shutdown looms, 41 Democratic senators are taking House Republicans to task for their âextremeâ plan to end support for womenâs health and family planning services.
Sens. Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray, D-Wash., signed a letter to the Senate Democratic and Republican leaders, urging them to stand against a budget plan by Congressâ lower changer âthat would harm women and their families.â
The senators signed the letter as Planned Parenthood supporters prepared to deliver more than 45,000 signatures from this state urging support for the embattled program.
