October 10, 2012

In a letter to the editor, the Bellevue Firefighters IAFF Local 1604 list their endorsements for state and local offices in the upcoming general election.

Bellevue Patch (Editorial) - Dear Editor:

Bellevue Firefighters are proud to announce the following endorsements for the November elections:

41st Legislative District:

Senate: Maureen Judge

House: Marcie Maxwell, Judy Clibborn

48th Legislative District:

House: Cyrus Habib, Ross Hunter

King County Sheriff: John Urquhart

Attorney General: Bob Ferguson

Governor: Jay Inslee

U.S. Senate: Maria Cantwell

U.S. House: Suzan DelBene, Adam Smith

As firefighters, our job is to take care of people. When we evaluate a candidate running for public office, we look for someone with the same passion and dedication to the people of Bellevue, King County, and the state of Washington that we have. We want our public officials to believe in the work we do and to support the people we serve. We feel the above mentioned candidates are committed to such a cause and have put our full endorsement behind their campaigns.

We encourage all citizens to carefully evaluate each candidate to determine if they truly act in the best interests of the public. Be sure the candidate you choose is working to protect the public, not their own special interests. Speak up and vote in the coming election.

Thank you for taking the time to consider the input of your local firefighter.

Sincerely,

Keith Allen
Vice-President
Bellevue Firefighters Local 1604

Working for WA

Protecting Washington’s Natural Resources

As one of the most beautiful states in the union–and one of the richest in natural resources–Washington has a special interest in energy and environmental policy. And Maria has fought hard to uphold the state’s conservation tradition, while also working to bring our energy policy into the 21st century.

Fighting For Washington Businesses, Workers and Jobs

Maria knows Washington’s business community – because, as an executive at an innovative software company, she was part of it. And as a Senator, she’s led the way in helping businesses large and small throughout Washington grow, thrive, and create jobs.

Keeping Washington Families Safe

Maria has taken a leadership role on safety and security issues, including defending our borders, strengthening our military, cracking down on gangs, and taking on drug crime in Washington communities.

Standing with Middle-Class Taxpayers

Middle-class families around Washington and across the country are facing tough times–and tough decisions about balancing the family checkbook each month. Maria has fought to strengthen the economic security of Washington families and cut taxes for middle-class families.
