PRESS RELEASE: Cantwell Campaign Tops $1 Million Raised in 3rd Quarter
Robust fundraising numbers come as new Rasmussen poll shows 57-37% lead over Republican challenger
SEATTLE – The campaign for U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell’s reelection is pleased to announce raising more than $1 million in the third quarter FEC filing period that ended on September 30, 2012. The amount brings Cantwell’s cycle-to-date fundraising total to more than $11.5 million, with more than $2 million dollars cash-on-hand for the final 5 weeks of the campaign.
While final numbers are still being compiled, the campaign’s strong grassroots support is reflected by the crossing of the 100,000 individual donation threshold in early September. As of September 1st, 78% of the campaign’s contributions received are individual donations of $50 or less.
The breadth and depth of support for Senator Cantwell is reflected in a new Rasmussen poll today showing her leading 57-37%.
“While our campaign takes nothing for granted and will fight for every vote until November 6th, the strong outpouring of support for Senator Cantwell is testimony to her laser-like focus on creating and protecting Washington state jobs – from apples to aerospace – and her commitment to fighting squarely on the side of our state’s middle class families,” said Cantwell campaign spokesman Kelly Steele.
