Walla Walla Union Bulletin latest in long series to recommend a vote for Cantwell

SEATTLE – The Walla Walla Union Bulletin has joined an overwhelming majority of the state’s newspapers in endorsing the reelection of US Senator Maria Cantwell. In their endorsement, the UB praised Cantwell’s keen knowledge of issues important to Eastern Washington and strong record of bipartisan cooperation, especially when it comes to jobs.

“[Cantwell has] worked well with Republicans on key issues such as improving the economy and creating jobs. Cantwell visited Walla Walla several times during her dozen years in the Senate. She has a clear grasp of issues important to Eastern Washington. We believe Cantwell has done a solid job of being a senator for the entire state.”

Earlier this week, Cantwell earned endorsements from the Vancouver Columbian for her “strong record of helping Southwest Washington,” the Kitsap Sun for her tireless advocacy for Washington state jobs and her leadership on the Boeing tanker deal, and the Olympian, who opined:

“For her relentless work protecting consumers from future financial meltdowns, promoting clean energy and a sharp focus on the link between jobs and education, Sen. Maria Cantwell has earned another term in the U.S. Senate.”

These endorsements come in addition to earlier support from the Tacoma News Tribune and the Everett Herald.

“Senator Cantwell is humbled to earn these endorsements for her tireless advocacy to create Washington jobs – from apples to aerospace – along with her vision to grow jobs in every single area of our great state,” said Cantwell campaign spokesman Kelly Steele. “Maria’s willingness to put her head down and get things done, even in the face of great dysfunction in Washington, DC – whether that means working across the aisle or standing up to Tea Party extremism – has served Washington state well.”
