First ad focuses on Senator Cantwell’s work on manufacturing jobs and veterans
SEATTLE – U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell’s campaign today released its first general election television advertisement. The 30-second ad begins running statewide today on TV and online.
“Maria Cantwell believes that we should support home-grown manufacturers here in Washington,” said Kelly Steele, Cantwell campaign spokesperson. "Our latest ad highlights Maria’s work to create more manufacturing jobs and more opportunities for veterans.”
The ad, “Great People,” was filmed on location at the J.M. Martinac Shipbuilding Corporation in Tacoma. Family-owned and now in its third generation of family management, Martinac specializes in the design and construction of vessels up to 250 feet long.
In the ad, Senator Cantwell highlights her strong support for the “VOW to Hire Heroes Act,” which is helping veterans by:
•Offering new tax incentives to businesses that hire unemployed veterans or those with service-connected disabilities
•Creating the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program to offer specialized training to unemployed veterans for jobs in high demand occupations
•Improving the transition from military to civilian life, to help more veterans find a seamless path from service to a good paying job

As one of the most beautiful states in the union–and one of the richest in natural resources–Washington has a special interest in energy and environmental policy. And Maria has fought hard to uphold the state’s conservation tradition, while also working to bring our energy policy into the 21st century.
Maria knows Washington’s business community – because, as an executive at an innovative software company, she was part of it. And as a Senator, she’s led the way in helping businesses large and small throughout Washington grow, thrive, and create jobs.
Maria has taken a leadership role on safety and security issues, including defending our borders, strengthening our military, cracking down on gangs, and taking on drug crime in Washington communities.
Middle-class families around Washington and across the country are facing tough times–and tough decisions about balancing the family checkbook each month. Maria has fought to strengthen the economic security of Washington families and cut taxes for middle-class families.
