Nation’s Largest Grassroots Environmental Group Praises Work to Protect Washington’s and America’s Environment

FROM A PRESS RELEASE ANNOUNCING THE SIERRA CLUB'S ENDORSEMENT OF MARIA CANTWELL:

"We are pleased to announce today that the Sierra Club officially endorses Senator Cantwell for reelection," said Bonnie Gail, state Political Chair "We are confident that she will continue work to protect Washington families’ health, air and water, and build a clean energy economy."

Given the current administration’s continued threats to our clean air and water and public lands, it is more important than ever to elect environmental champions like Senator Cantwell. Senator Cantwell has led the fight to protect America’s Arctic, Bristol Bay and defend against a host of attacks on our bedrock national environmental laws and standards. Senator Cantwell has championed protection of the Methow Valley Headwaters from mining threats. And, continues to press for adequate funding for protection and restoration of Puget Sound.

"We are delighted to endorse Senator Cantwell for her continued efforts to expand the Mountain to Sound Greenway and protect our states wild areas and rivers", said Julia Reitan, Chapter Chair, “She is a true environmental champion who will fight to protect Washington’s clean air, clean water, our climate and natural treasures."

Along with the endorsement, the Sierra Club will lend its volunteer strength to Senator Cantwell’s campaign. "Senator Cantwell has fought for our environment and values and we will be working to assure she is re-elected to the U. S. Senate. "We will mobilize our members to volunteer in the campaign and vote. We look forward to a victory for Senator Cantwell on election night and to her continued work fighting for the environment as a U. S. Senator."
