As a strong opponent of the Stop Online Privacy Act (SOPA), Cantwell spoke to Zillow employees on the very day Congress recalled the controversial SOPA bill.

Herrera Beutler on Obama speech: Get serious about cutting regulations

Patty Murray expressed agreement with the president’s desire to make the wealthiest Americans pay more taxes, U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell touted his plan to keep manufacturing jobs in the country, and U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler said he needs to get serious about cutting government regulations.

The privacy bill: Web activists trump Hollywood
Seattle Post-Intelligencer – Legislation giving the U.S. Justice Department and entertainment companies sweeping powers to combat intellectual piracy has, for the moment, been consigned to Davy Jones’ Locker. Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, chief sponsor of the Stop Intellectual Piracy Act (SOPA) pulled the plug on a scheduled markup and said he would “wait until three is wider agreement” before trying again.
